Certified Crime Scene Technician | Certified Criminal Justice Instructor
Linnell M. Burton is the visionary behind Blueprint Camp, LLC and Blueprint Camp and Friends, LLC—innovative educational platforms that merge forensic science with youth STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. With a robust background in law enforcement and education, Ms. Burton has dedicated her career to making forensic science accessible and engaging for learners of all ages.
Her academic journey includes an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Oakland Community College (1997), a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Clark Atlanta University (2000), a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Criminal Justice Administration from Troy State University (2004), a Specialist in Education degree from The University of Georgia in (2022).
Ms. Burton commenced her law enforcement career with the Atlanta Police
Department as a Crime Scene Technician, advancing to Senior Crime Scene
Technician. In 2005, she joined the DeKalb County Police Department as a
Master Crime Scene Investigator, where her expertise was showcased in
national media, including appearances on The First 48(Season 12, Episode 4:
“Last Words/Nowhere to Hide”) and Snapped (Season 15, Episode 8).
Transitioning into education, Ms. Burton became a Certified Criminal Justice
Instructor, teaching at Georgia Piedmont Technical College and later within the Georgia public school system. Her passion for teaching led her to establish Blueprint Camp, LLC in 2013, offering hands-on CSI Youth STEAM Camps, afterschool programs, and community workshops. Through Blueprint Camp
and Friends, LLC, she introduced animated characters like Clark the Cat, Max
the Magnifier, and Felicia the Flashlight, creating an engaging narrative to teach forensic science concepts to young learners.
Blueprint Camp, LLC is a registered, trademarked, insured, and certified
enterprise, holding affiliations with the Georgia Department of Education,
Georgia Science Teachers Association (GSTA), Career, Technical, and
Agricultural Education (CTAE), and various colleges and universities across
Georgia. The organization is also a member of the Henry County Chamber of
Commerce and the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and holds certifications as a
Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), African
American Business Enterprise (AABE), and Women Business Enterprise (WBE)
in both the City of Atlanta and Fulton County.
Her commitment to education includes training Georgia science teachers in
professional learning development with a focus on forensic science. She
regularly facilitates forensic science workshops and lectures at STEM/STEAM
conferences, with expertise spanning crime scene investigation, public safety, law enforcement, and educational programming. Her unwavering commitment to education and community engagement continues to inspire and empower the next generation of forensic science enthusiasts.
